Peanut Butter & Jelly Jam is a family friendly event giving compassionate people the opportunity to connect with individuals in our community who struggle with homelessness. Held at Andrews Park in downtown Norman, the events of the previous two years have provided food, backpacks, hygiene kits, school supplies, clothing, prayer, musical entertainment, books, information and resources for housing, medical care, and support services to those in need. This year we also hope to provide free haircuts, tents and rain gear, dog food and treats, and gift cards to allow for the purchase of appropriately sized clothing, shoes, and personal care items.
We provide the lunch meal service for Food and Shelter for Friends in Norman at the Peanut Butter & Jelly Jam. We advertise to clients at Food and Shelter for Friends, Mission Norman, Salvation Army, and many other charitable organizations within our community. We partner with Vintage Church of Edmond as our tax-exempt sponsor. They also help provide volunteers and resources. We also have volunteer help and support from Wildwood Community Church in Norman and Summit Church in Newcastle. Last year, we fed approximately 200 people in need, fed all of our volunteers, and were able to send unused food items and $500 checks to both Food and Shelter for Friends and Mission Norman. We also provided over 100 backpacks and 50 hygiene kits, shoes, clothes, books, and lots of hugs and encouragement.
Our goal is to spread love around our community, serve those in need, and connect with people in our hometown. Please consider joining us in support of the 2016 Peanut Butter & Jelly Jam.
