It may not appear on any “Must Eat” lists, but this quaint little road-side joint is nothing if not entertaining! Murder is certainly an off-menu special on this night, when a group of townies, travelers, strangers and the diner staff have to figure out which one of them turned the local jerk’s usual order into his last meal. If that’s not enough, the whole place has a tendency to break into song when you least expect it—dishing up some of Broadway’s funniest show tunes to help keep your bellies full. . . of laughter. So, join The Sooner Theatre for your Valentine’s special as they take a detour into “Rip’s Diner” and try your hand in guessing whodunit in their annual Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre at The Studio of the Sooner Theatre in downtown Norman.
All proceeds from the dinner and musical theatre extravaganza benefit the programs and operations of the historic Sooner Theatre, an anchor of Norman’s thriving downtown arts district. Tickets to the event are $75 each or $750 for a table of ten.
The show is written by James Briggs of the Norman Parks and Recreation Department.
Dinner and shows are at the NEW Studio of The Sooner Theatre, 110 E Main. St., in downtown Norman. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. each night. Although the event is a fundraiser for all programs of The Sooner Theatre, the evening is for adults only.
The Sooner Theatre of Norman is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Sooner Theatre offers year-round events including in-house musical theatre productions, concerts by nationally touring groups, special events, youth productions and dozens of performing arts classes at The Studio of The Sooner Theatre.
Tickets for this special event can be purchased in advance by calling The Sooner Theatre at 405.321.9600. Or stop by the Theatre Box Office, 101 East Main Street, Tuesday-Friday, 10 a.m.-noon and 2-5 p.m.
